Banderra Estate
Banderra Estate is an operating vineyard and winery, located in Forbes in the Central Ranges Zone of NSW. The vineyard, cellar door and winery is based at Sandhills Vineyard, where both the premium Banderra Estate and Sandhills Vineyard labels are sold from the original underground cellar door.
The property is steeped in history, with the first vines planted in the 1920’s, and the vineyard still retains much of its old-world charm. Current owners, John Saleh and Eleanor Lewis, acquired Sandhills in 1989, replanting much of the vineyard with premium wine grape varieties.
Sandhills vineyard is a relaxing and picturesque estate that welcomes visitors. John and Eleanor, are active members of the Forbes community whose involvement in the NSW Small Winemakers Wine Show, held in Forbes since 1992, ensures that small winemakers, such as themselves, are recognised for their efforts. They offer a wealth of knowledge about both wine and the local community, so if you’re heading out West, drop in, say hello and sample the red, white & fortified wines on offer.
